Collegiate Athletes
- Sage Beauregard (Lake Erie)
- Erin Billette (MSU)
- Kaitlin Catania (OU)
Kaitlin Catania is yet another Clarkston athlete to make the transition from high school to collegiate running.
While Kaitlin ran for Clarkston she achieved much success. Catania was a sprinter turned distance runner around mid season of her freshman year. In making the transition she found success in the 3200 meter run. Catania as a freshman placed 8th at the Oakland County Championships running a blistering 11:35.
Catania decided to try cross country her sophomore year following the success she had as a freshman. Kaitlin had a great year her first year in the sport helping the team to several victories and earning her varsity letter.
During Kaitlin's Junior year she broke 20 minutes for the first time in the 5k running a 19:36 and helping the team advance to the state championships. Catania would go on to achieve her first appearance at the MITS track state championships and barely miss the qualifying standard for the outdoor state finals.
Catania really began to shine her senior year with a second appearance at the Cross Country State championship and MITS track state championships. Catania also qualified for the first time for the outdoor track state championships in the 4 x 800m relay.
" I have many memories from Kaitlin's time running on the team, but one of the most memorable and inspiring was her regional performance in the 4 x 800. As Catania was warming up for the relay she lost her footing falling and breaking her arm just minutes prior to the start of the race. Catania ran quickly over to the trainer at the meet and told him to tape it up because she wasn't going to miss this race. This all was happening as the officials were organizing the teams at the starting line. Catania our lead off leg sucked up the tears and ran over to the starting line and ran possibly her best race performance of her life and one of the most memorable/ proudest moments I have had as a coach."
